Analysis And Evaluation On Competitiveness Of Nylon Industrial Cluster In China From The Perspective Of Industrial Chain

Nylon,a polymer material,is widely used as fiber,engineering plastic and film in various industries,such as textile and garment,automobile,electrical appliance and food packaging.At present,China is already the largest producer and consumer of nylon in the world.Nylon fiber is superior to polyester in abrasion resistance,moisture absorption,dyeability,and its wide use in engineering plastics and films,which will make it have a huge market demand in the future.Therefore,it is of great significance to study nylon varieties in China,the upstream and downstream conditions of the industrial chain,and the distribution of industrial clusters.In addition,Haian City,Jiangsu Province is one of the regions where the nylon industry developed earlier in China.In recent years,the industrial chain has been continuously improved,and the development model of a cluster has been formed.The cluster integrates all kinds of enterprises including nylon chip,spinning,texturing,twisting,weaving and the production of textiles and engineering plastics However,with the rapid development of the nylon industry in other regions,the nylon industrial cluster in Haian City is also facing the threat of decreasing market share.Therefore,studying the status quo of the nylon industrial cluster in Haian City and evaluating the competitiveness of the cluster will be helpful to the development and the improvement of competitiveness of the cluster in the future.This paper firstly analyzed the development status of nylon industrial chain in China.Secondly,nylon industry was divided into five major clusters: Fujian,Zhejiang,Jiangsu,Shandong,and Henan Provinces by region.The status of each cluster was studied,and the five clusters were compared.Thirdly,the nylon industrial cluster of Haian City was chosen as a study case,and an initial qualitative analysis was conducted on the development status and competitiveness of the cluster.Finally,the competitiveness evaluation system of Haian City nylon industrial cluster was established based on the GEM model,and the cluster competitiveness was quantitatively evaluated with the analytic hierarchy process.The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)According to the analysis of the nylon industrial chain,China is already largest producer and consumer of caprolactam,nylon 6 raw material,in the world.Meanwhile,it is also the largest producer of nylon 66 raw material-adipic acid,but adiponitrile mainly relies on imports,which is a key factor restricting the development of nylon 66 in China.Nylon chips in China are mainly used for civilian yarns,and the applications in engineering plastics and films need to be improved.In addition,the production capacity of nylon in China is mainly concentrated in the eastern coastal areas.The production capacity in the northeast,northwest and southwest regions of China is nearly blank.The import and export are mainly distributed in Asia,Europe and North America.(2)Fujian and Shandong Provinces have more advantages in the upper reaches of the industrial chain.Fujian and Jiangsu Provinces have more advantages in the middle reaches of nylon 6,and Henan Province has more advantages in the middle reaches of nylon 66.Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces have more advantages in downstream applications.(3)In the nylon industrial cluster of Haian City,nylon chipping enterprises have significant advantages in scale,and downstream enterprises of texturing,thread making and weaving are small in scale but large in number.The cluster mainly presents development advantages in terms of basic conditions,industrial chain,location and industrial concentration,and existing some deficiencies in terms of product homogeneity,enterprise equipment,brand and innovation.(4)The GEM model of competitiveness evaluation of nylon industrial cluster in Haian City scores 495 points,and the overall level of the cluster exceeds the national average level,with certain domestic competitive advantages.Among the three major competitiveness of grounding,enterprise and market,the score of enterprise competitiveness is the highest,and the score of grounding competitiveness is the lowest.The competitiveness of suppliers and related auxiliary industries and the competitiveness of the local market are the unique advantages of nylon industrial cluster in Haian City.
