The acceleration of urbanization has increased human demand for fossil energy, the expansion of arable land and construction land, and the increase of greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in a series of ecological problems such as climate warming, which has drew the attention of governments and scholars from different countries. The results of greenhouse gas emissions caused by changes in land use and spatial structure is the most direct factor affecting carbon emissions in addition to energy consumption, automobile exhaust and factory exhaust emissions in human activities. As a typical resource-based industrial city,Karamay is a typical resource-intensive industrial city, and the petrochemical industry occupies a high proportion. Therefore,in the circumstances of a low-carbon economy,it is extraordinarily important to study the changes in the spatial structure of land use in the realization of low-carbon land use in this region. This paper interprets the 4 phases of remote sensing image data of Karamay City from 1995 to2019,and split land use types into six categories to get the basis for calculating the area of each category.According to the variety of theories, the changes of the landscape pattern of Karamay is analyzed.with the energy consumption data, socioeconomic data, and agricultural material consumption data, utilizing the carbon emissions calculation formula to estimate the carbon emissions/carbon sinks of Karamay City,The relationship between the evolution of landscape pattern and carbon emissions is calculated and analyzed using the relevant model of gray theory. The results show:(1)Changes in the area of land use types: From 1995 to 2019,among the different land use types of Karamay City, except for the obvious decrease in the area of unused land, the area of other land types showed an increasing trend;(2)Transformation of land use:During the study,it was the most distinct that the characteristics of the transformation of unused land to other land types.on the contrary, the change of grassland to other land types was the least distinct;(3)Changes in land use landscape spatial pattern:throughout the study period of Karamay landscape fragmentation rising trend, the landscape type constantly decreases, and the biggest plaques in the plaque distance from compact to disperse, landscape distribution gradually complicated, the degree of segmentation gradually serious, landscape diversity changes from single to complex, landscape types tend to be diversified;(4)Carbon emissions/carbon sinks: Karamay City’s carbon sinks showed an upward trend from 1995 to 2015,with an overall increase of 123,700 tons during the study period.Carbon emissions continued to increase from 1995 to 2019,with the most significant increase at the beginning of the study period. At each stage of the research period, the fixed amount of carbon is less than the total amount of carbon emissions,it will increase net carbon emissions and carbon emission intensity in research area.(5)The results show that the increase of carbon emissions in the study area is closely related to the gradual seriousness of landscape segmentation, the complexity of landscape distribution, the scattered change of landscape patch distance and the continuous reduction of the maximum patch area.(6)In the end, according to the research conclusion, the paper puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, provides the basis and reference materials for the development of Karamay’s low-carbon land use.
