| At present,the treatment method for the by-products produced in the production process of PETN(pentaerythritol tetranitrate)in China is incineration.Incineration not only pollutes the environment but also wastes resources,and may also lead to safety accidents.Therefore,it is of great social and economic significance to study the composition,properties and recycling technology of the by-products of PETN.This paper first analyzes the formation mechanism of by-products combined with PETN production process;Then,the by-products were separated by column chromatography,and their structures were characterized by TLC,HPLC,LC-MS,IR,and XRS-single crystal diffraction,then the thermal decomposition properties of the by-product and the by-product’s main components were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and adiabatic accelerating rate calorimeter,the mechanical sensitivity of the by-product and the by-product’s main components was measured by the device of heavy hammer impact sensitivity and the divice of pendulum friction sensitivity.The results show that PETN and DPEHN(dipentaerythritol hexanitrate)are the main by-products of PETN,and DPEHN is mainly from the nitration of dipentaerythritol in raw materials,and the content of PETN and DPEHN is about 80% and20 %.At the heating rate of 5K/min,10K/min,15K/min and 20K/min,the peak temperatures of decomposition of the by-product of PETN are 472.13K,480.37K,485.50K and 490.12K,respectively,and the difference is not more than 3K with that of PETN.The critical temperature of thermal explosion and the temperature of self-accelerating thermal decomposition of the by-product of PETN are 471.17K and 458.18K,respectively,and the difference is not more than 2K with that of PETN.The mechanical sensitivity of PETN byproducts is comparable to that of PETN;From the view of safety performance,this by-product would be used in the preparation of civil explosive devices as PETN.The results of this paper have an important guiding role for the utilization of PETN by-products. |
