Animal husbandry is one of the important sources of greenhouse gas emissions in our country.Although the livestock products meet the consumption needs of residents, and also bring serious environmental impact issues. At present, there are few internal researches on environmental impact of the production of mutton sheep on family farms and the lives of herdsmen in pastoral areas.Based on the full life cycle assessment and structural equation model methods, this study calculated the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions of the mutton sheep production links and the lives of herdsmen in the Hulunbuir study area. The purpose is to quantify the greenhouse gas emission level and environmental impact of the family ranches in the study area,Which is conducive to identifying and optimizing emission reduction measures, and provides data support for current carbon neutrality and green sustainable development. The study indicated that:(1)The intestinal methane emissions of mutton sheep from family farms in the study area dominated(71.94%),the manure management system emissions were the second(23.92%),the emissions generated during the planting and transportation of feed crops accounted for the third(4.14%);(2)The greenhouse emission intensity per 1 kg live weight of mutton sheep was 18.37 kg CO2-eq in the study area;(3)The greenhouse gas emissions of Hulunbuir mutton sheep production reached a small peak in2005,and reached the peak during the 50-year period in 2015,respectively.In 2019,the top three regions of Hulunbuir mutton sheep production emissions were Zhalantun City,Xinbalhu Right Banner and Arong Banner;(4)The per capita greenhouse gas emissions of herders in the study area was 13.71 t CO2-eq,and direct household carbon emissions accounted for 69.74% of total emissions, indirect carbon emissions accounted for 30.26%of total emissions, and coal use emissions accounted for the first place(64.43%);(5)The economic level had a very significant impact on the greenhouse gas emissions, the number of livestock and household expenditures on the economic level(P<0.001).
