Chromium,a heavy metal element in soil, has been widely distributed in soil.Excessive accumulation of chromium in soil has resulted in reduction of agricultural production and quality. It also has characterized by increased occurrence of pollution of air and water.Chromium affects human health by entering the human body with the food chain and water. Therefore,it is important to analyze study the distribution of chromium in main farming area, which led to a much improved understanding of rational use and protect non-renewable resources. The aim of this paper is to discuss the distribution characteristics of soil chromium element in the Yangtze river and Yellow River and conclude the distribution characteristics, regularity of chromium on the different soil parent material and the different environmental factors by using massive geochemical survey data. These continue to analyze the impaction in the distribution of chromium elements in soil by the different soil parent material and the different environmental factors. It is obvious that chromium content of deep soil in the Yangtze river is higher than those in the Yellow River and other regions.Compared with the Yellow River, the Yangtze river is more abundant in magmatic rock and mental minerals, which influenced by Chemical weathering, while the Yellow River is influenced by physical weathering. Therefore, the main reasons why it shows the different content of chromium elements are the differences between two rivers in their geological background and weathering types. The distribution characteristics of chromium in soil are influenced greatly by Soil parent material and environmental factors. This article statistics the content of chromium in the soil developed in basic rock, intermediate rock, acid rock, terrigenous clastic rocks and alluvial deposit, and concludes that the soil developed in basic rock has the highest content of chromium. With the increase of temperature and annual rainfall, the chromium element in the soil adds and tends to the deeper soil. However, the chromium element tends to the surface with the increase of annual evaporation. It is shown that the high concentration of chromium in deep soil under the condition of acidification, and ability of transfer will decrease with the increase of p H.This article compares the effects of soil parent material and environmental factors on chromium content in the soil.Chromium element is closely related to combination of elements in soil parent material and soil weathering index. It is shown that soil parent material and environmental factors have great influence on distribution of chromium, and the influence of soil parent material is slightly greater impact than the environmental factors.
