Epoxy resin has been widely used in lamps,lenses,special adhesives and many other application fields because of its good optical properties.However,because epoxy resin is a flammable material,it has the risk of major safety accidents.When burning,it is accompanied by a large amount of thick smoke and toxic and harmful gases polluting the environment.This defect also affects the application scope of epoxy resin.In the past research,the common methods to enhance the flame retardant performance of epoxy resin usually lose its optical properties,so as to greatly reduce the transparency and refractive index.Therefore,how to realize the flame retardant modification on the premise of maintaining the optical properties has become the key breakthrough.In this paper,nano Zn S particles were modified by introducing nitrogen,phosphorus and other elements into sulfhydryl derivatives(sulfhydryl ethylamine,sulfhydryl ethanol and diphenylphosphine chloride),and added to epoxy resin to prepare epoxy cured products.The effects of the introduction of modified nanoparticles on the optical and flame retardant properties of epoxy cured products were explored.The research results of this paper are as follows:A modified nanoparticle material was prepared by modifying zinc acetate dihydrate with mercaptoethanol(ME)and mercaptoethylamine.It was characterized by SEM,XPS and XRD.The above characterization results show that the modified Zn S nanoparticles,ME@Zn S,have been successfully prepared.It was obtained by adding it to epoxy resin according to different mass fractions(20 wt%,30 wt%,40 wt%)ME@Zn S/EP,the highest visible light transmittance of cured epoxy resin can reach 90.9% and the refractive index can reach 1.712.Flame retardant test results show that,40ME@Zn S/EP(3.2 mm)passed the V-1 level of UL-94 test,and its limit oxygen index(LOI)reached 27.2%.The combustion behavior of the micro calorimetric test spline shows that compared with pure EP,the peak heat release rate(PHRR)and FGR value of ME@Zn S/EP with different nano particle addition decreased significantly which proves that the cured material has excellent flame retardancy,excellent transparency and refractive index.By introducing diphenylphosphinyl chloride(DPPC),new nano Zn S particles were prepared on the basis of the above modified nanoparticles DPME@Zn S.It was characterized by SEM,XPS and XRD.The above characterization results show that the modified Zn S nanoparticles,DPME@Zn S,have been successfully prepared.It was obtained by adding it to epoxy resin according to different mass fractions(20 wt%,30 wt%,40 wt%)DPME@Zn S/EP,the highest visible light transmittance of cured epoxy resin can reach 90.2% and the refractive index can reach 1.734.Flame retardant test results show that,40DPME@Zn S/EP passed the V-0 level of UL-94 test,and its limit oxygen index(LOI)reached 27.8%.The combustion behavior of the micro calorimetric test spline shows that compared with pure EP,the peak heat release rate and FGR value of DPME@Zn S/EP with different nano particle addition decreased significantly which proves that the cured material has excellent flame retardancy,excellent transparency and refractive index.
