Experimental Study On Removal Of Iron And Manganese From Acid Well Water In Mining Area

Well water,especially acid mine well water,usually contains excessive iron and manganese,which would cause serious problems to our health,life,industry and environment if discharged directly,so iron and manganese must be reduced before emission or reusage of well water.Therefore,through the study of a single or compound simulative acid mine well water with Fe²⁺ and Mn²⁺,this research focuses on making a medicament,a modified humic acid for the purpose of removing iron and manganese,and its effect considering many influencial factors such as medicament dosing,p H value,reaction time and the temperature.Still,the optimum condition is adjusted through the orthogonal test at room temperature.The results showed that when only mine water containing Fe²⁺ was treated,the optimal process parameters were 180 mg / L humic acid,p H value of 6,reaction time of 5 min,and the removal rate of Fe²⁺ could reach 92%;When only mine water containing Mn²⁺ is treated,the optimal process parameters are as follows: humic acid is 44 mg / L,p H value is 5.5,reaction time is 10 min,the removal rate of Mn²⁺ can reach 64%;When treating mine water containing Fe²⁺ and Mn²⁺,the optimal process parameters are as follows: reaction time is 5min,p H value is 6,humic acid is 200 mg / L.In reality,the application of the medicament for removing iron and manganese in well water treatment project also shows that the pharmacon works quite well and the quality of the well water is both fit for emission and reusage.This reaserch shows that the medicament is really helpful in dealing with acid well water of Fe²⁺ and Mn²⁺,the optimal process parameters are as follows: reaction time is 5min,p H value is 6,humic acid is 200 mg / L.for its short time,good effect,and low cost,so it may replace other medicaments for removing iron and manganese in the future.
