The types of carbonate reservoirs in the Middle East are complex and diverse, the internal pore structure of the reservoirs is complex, and the horizontal and vertical heterogeneity of the reservoirs is strong, resulting in a rapid rise in watercut and complex water flow rules during the development process, which affects the development effect of oil fields. In order to develop this reservoirs more effectively, control the rising rate of water cuts in the reservoirs, and increase single well production,it is necessary to study the oil-water flow rules of such reservoirs in combination with geological and development factors, and to clarify the flooded conditions of the reservoirs. The subsequent development and adjustment of reservoir development will lay the foundation. This paper is based on the study of the reservoir geological characteristics and the production dynamic data of BU oil field. The research analyzes the water flooding development characteristics of the reservoir as a whole. Then, establishing a typical numerical simulation model to study the horizontal and vertical water flooding laws of the reservoir in depth. The geological and development factors are used to analyze the water cut rise and main control factors of the reservoir. Finally,a specific development and adjustment strategy suitable for the reservoir was formulated to improve the overall development effect. This paper provides a scientific guidance to solve rapid watercut rise and large decline in production for such typical thick-layer pore carbonate carbonate reservoirs in the Middle East.
