A Study On The Clothing Fashion Design With Seawater River-Cliff Pattern

With the march of time,the collision between traditional and modern cultures has become increasingly intense.Since the CPC Central Committee articulated the demand to rejuvenate the traditional culture in 2017,all sectors of society have earnestly assumed the historical responsibility of inheriting and developing the cream of China's traditional culture,and actively promoting innovative applicable design combining traditional elements and contemporary aesthetic values.The seawater river-cliff pattern,as one of the classic traditional patterns of China,carries very rich traditional cultural connotations and displays robust vitality.This article explores how to deliver the fashion design of seawater river-cliff pattern in clothing design.This article encompasses five chapters.The first chapter expounds the backdrop of the study,reviews the research value of the seawater river-cliff pattern,analyzes the cases in which it is applied in modern design,relates to the current status at home and abroad of related research,and affords theoretical underpinning for the fashion design based on the seawater river-cliff pattern.The second chapter,which invokes a large stock of literature and photographic materials,expands upon the concept of seawater river-cliff pattern,elements involved,color matching as well as its laws of evolution.It is a decorative pattern mainly applied in hems,cuffs of clothing and in porcelain,composed of flat water pattern,standing water pattern,river-cliff pattern and other auxiliary patterns.Its shape,structure and color matching evolve over the years,and it serves as a traditional pattern bearing immense aesthetic value.The third chapter reviews the types and methods surrounding the pattern composition,assimilates the vortex patterns,wave patterns,standing water patterns and cloud patterns and other commonplace pattern elements,whose original standardized structure is transformed and combined with contemporary geometric elements as well as fashionable color matching towards the innovative design of patterns,and meanwhile experiments with soft wire,acrylic and other new materials to represent the seawater river-cliff patterns in a fashionable manner.The fourth chapter examines the use of these patterns in contemporary clothing through case studies and learns from it,and then applies the earlier experimental results to the series theme of clothing design that involves the conversion of elements,thereby producing the designs of three series,including the“collision” series mainly featuring the pattern elements with all-over printing,the“broken beauty” series in the form of patchwork to express the pattern design,and the“concave impression” series that utilizes acrylic to highlight the lines of the patterns.Through this study,the author provides a summary of the characteristics,elements and color matching of seawater river-cliff pattern,reviews the types and methods regarding the pattern composition,re-designs the elements of the decomposed seawater river-cliff pattern and applies them to the series designs of clothing.It completes the applied research on the fashion design of the seawater river-cliff pattern,and provides new pathways and fresh ideas for the use of traditional patterns in modern clothing design.
