Radioactive iodine ions in water seriously harm human health, this paper intends to synthesize a 3D Cu@Cu2O for removal of the iodine ion in water. And its removal effect and mechanism of I-under the action of electrification were discussed. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, the 3D Cu@Cu2O composite materials were prepared and characterized.Foam copper has advantages of good conductivity, ductility, and large specific surface.XRD and XPS analysis show that there are two valence states of Cu and Cu2O on the surface of the composite material.HRTEM shows two independent textures, the calculated lattice spacing is 2.45(?)and 2.07(?),corresponding to Cu2O and Cu,respectively. The content ratio of Cu2O and Cu was 1:1.906 by EDS and XPS analysis.Secondly, the iodide ion removal performance of 3D Cu@Cu2O composite materials under the condition of electrification and non-electrification was discussed. The experimental results show that the removal rate is only 8.67%,without electrification;the removal rate can reach 96.65%,under the condition of electrification.Electricity plays a crucial role in the removal of I-.Electricity can greatly improve the removal of I-by composite materials. The composite material has a wide range of application, and the removal rate of iodine ion can reach more than 90%from p H=3to 10;The composite materials still show high selectivity for iodine ion in complex environment; The composite material has a strong ability to remove trace iodine ions, which can reduce the iodine concentration in deionized water or simulated salt lake water to 34 ppb.The composite can be recycled by simply soaking step, and the removal effect can still reach more than 70%after 5 times of recycling. Finally, the removal mechanism of 3D Cu@Cu2O composite block material was explored. The experimental results show that the efficient removal of I-in water by composite materials is achieved through“adsorption-electrocatalytic oxidation-re-adsorption”procedure,that is,Cu2O absorbs I-and forms Cu I,and under the action of electricity,I-is oxidized to I2 and Cu I absorbs I2.
