With the increasing scarcity of raw material output of Burma blue water jadeite and the increasing market demand for blue water jadeite,As the emerald producing area next only to Myanmar,Guatemalan blue water material has been produced in large quantities in recent years, and its market share is also increasing year by year.Guatemalan blue water jadeite has gray blue appearance, fine texture and good transparency, and contains a large number of white cotton like spots inside. It is very similar to Myanmar blue water jadeite in color and texture. However, due to the fact that the output is far more than that of Myanmar blue water jadeite, there are great differences in value and price between Myanmar blue water jadeite and Myanmar blue water jadeite. With a large number of blue water dangerous materials flowing into the jadeite market, the value of blue water jadeite in the market was once confused. The purpose of this paper is to study the characteristics of blue water jadeite from Myanmar and Guatemalan through macroscopic observation, conventional gemmological observation, microstructure observation and modern testing technology analysis(X-ray powder diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, laser Raman spectroscopy, electron probe experiment, laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry)The differences and commonalities between Burma blue water jadeite and Guatemalan blue water jadeite are analyzed, and then the two Jadeites are distinguished in detail and systematically,so as to provide the basis for the identification and trade of the two kinds of blue water Jadeites in the market. The main achievements are as follows:1.On the macroscopic characteristics, the blue water material in Myanmar is the head rock in the placer of the ancient river bed terrace, which is strongly weathered. The cortex is relatively thick, and the surface is weathered and etched obviously, which is grooved.Guatemalan blue water material is a residual slope deposit(near surface semi mountain),which is weathered in situ near the surface without much transportation. It is irregular in shape and appears as angular breccia. The blue green, dark green and yellow appear on the surface of Myanmar blue water jadeite.Guatemalan blue water jadeite is mostly yellow and brownish yellow. The surface feels Sandy and the thickness of cortex is thin.2.The gemmological parameters of Burmese blue water jadeite and Guatemalan blue water jadeite are basically the same. The density of Guatemalan blue water jadeite is slightly higher than that of Burmese blue water jadeite, and there is little difference in refractive index between the two places.3.Under the polarized light microscope,it is found that the main components of Burma blue water jadeite and Guatemalan blue water jadeite are pyroxene group minerals. In contrast, the distribution of mineral particles in Myanmar blue water jadeite is more uniform, and its particle size is smaller and texture is more delicate than that of Guatemalan blue water jadeite.4.Through the comprehensive analysis of XRD,FTIR and laser Raman spectrum, the composition of Myanmar blue water jadeite is omphacite.Guatemalan blue water jadeite is composed of jadeite. The mineral composition of the green part with green color root is omphacite.5.Electron probe microanalysis and LA-ICP-MS analysis show that the presence of FeO is the main cause of blue color in Burma blue water jadeite and Guatemalan blue water jadeite.6.The data of LA-ICP-MS show that with the deepening of blue hue,the content of Fe is also increasing. The presence of Fe in the blue water is not only the main cause of the blue color in Guatemalan blue jadeite. It is also because of the presence of Fe that the overall color tone is deepened.
