Based on the inevitable trend of the international development of the clothing industry and the demand of the clothing industry for innovative fashion design talents,the clothing design competition has become an important way for the industry to select excellent and newly-developed fashion designers.At the same time,many well-known fashion designers and their avant-garde clothing design works stand out in the clothing design competition,which has become the focus of common concern of the clothing industry,clothing colleges and clothing enterprises,and develops new ideas for the development of fashion design.On the one hand,avant-garde clothing has the spirit of innovation and rebellion,has a strong visual effect and formal beauty,highlights the designer's unique design ideas,contains rich subjective feelings.On the other hand,the important design elements of avant-garde clothing include modeling,color,material and technology,among which modeling design is the most important.The modeling of avantgarde clothing includes the outer silhouette and the inner silhouette.The outer silhouette is the outermost clothing type of avant-garde clothing,and is the foundation of avantgarde clothing.It determines the relationship between avant-garde clothing and human body,and the relationship between avant-garde clothing and environment.Therefore,it is of great significance to study and analyze the outer silhouette design of avant-garde clothing in design competition,to promote the cultivation and development of fashion design talents,to provide design ideas for the participants of fashion design competition,and to supplement relevant theories for the outer silhouette design of avant-garde clothing in clothing design competition.In this paper,the outer silhouette of fashion design competition in the avant-garde clothing as the main research object,using case analysis,quantitative research,questionnaire interviews,graphic mutual proof,field research and other research methods for in-depth research.Through the computer drawing software,the outer silhouette of the selected avant-garde clothing case is extracted,and then the quantitative research template is made based on the human body data of the international standard model with 8 head body ratio,so as to carry out quantitative analysis and Research on the outer silhouette of avant-garde clothing in the fashion design competition Qualitative analysis and research are carried out from three aspects: the characteristics of formal beauty and the forms of design expression.Through the method of mutual proof and quantitative and qualitative analysis,it is concluded that the basic elements of outer silhouette design are mainly structure,volume,technology and material;the outer silhouette design follows the law of formal beauty,which is manifested in proportion,symmetry and balance,rhythm and rhythm,highlighting and emphasizing;The form of expression of outer silhouette design is mainly divided into three forms: concrete,image and abstract.Through interviews with contestants,industry experts and judges,the key points and difficulties in the process of garment outer silhouette design are clarified.Combined with practical experience and relevant theories of design thinking and methods,the avant-garde clothing's outer silhouette design process model suitable for fashion design competition is summarized and verified by design practice.The outer silhouette design of avant-garde clothing is a process inspired by certain rational logical thinking and perceptual creative thinking.In addition to the subjective perceptual creative expression,it also needs rational analysis and thinking.The author thinks that the design process is mainly divided into six stages: preparation,conception,proposal,implementation,feedback and display.Based on this,the process model and related design theory and method of avant-garde clothing outer silhouette modeling design in fashion design competition are established,which can provide reference for garment practitioners and fans in fashion design competition.
