The complex crystal structures of pegmatite aluminosilicate minerals such as spodumene and feldspar are extremely similar in chemical properties, making it difficult to achieve effective separation due to poor selectivity of reaction with traditional single flotation collectors such as fatty acids or amines. In view of the combinatorial chemistry,we investigate the regulation mechanism of anionic-cationic mixed collectors with different alkyl chain lengths and functional groups in the spodumene-feldspar flotation system. The optimal conditions for separation are selected, and the selective adsorption mechanism of the mixed collectors under the optimal conditions is further investigated. The optimal conditions for effective separation of spodumene and feldspar are screened by single-mineral flotation experiments, and the selective adsorption mechanism of the anion-cation mixed collectors under the optimal conditions is further investigated;the adsorption behavior of the anion-cation mixed collectors at the interface is studied in depth by in situ techniques, and the in situ assembly mechanism at the interface of spodumene and feldspar is also revealed.Based on the theoretical research results, the a novel anion-cation mixed collector developed for enhanced flotation recovery of spodumene from pegmatitetype lithium pyroxene ore in western Sichuan. This study is of great value not only to solve the technical problems of flotation separation of complex pegmatite spodumene ores but also to further improve the guarantee extent. Here are the main conclusions of the paper:1.Studies on the flotation behavior of single mineral show that the pulp acidity and molar ratio of the collectors have important effects on spodumene and feldspar flotation. At p H 8-9 and molar ratio of6:1,all three kinds of mixed anionic-cationic collectors are able to separate spodumene and feldspar efficiently.2.The results of the selective mechanism study show that both anionic and cationic components can be adsorbed on the surface of spodumene and feldspar;the adsorption mode of these three anionic collectors maybe bidentate adsorption onto the mineral surfaces;in addition, the adsorption morphology of different mixed collectors on the mineral surface is complex, and the hydrophobicity and the floatability of the mineral are analyzed by the coverage area of water molecule in XPS results, which are consistent with the flotation results.3.The in situ interfacial assembly mechanism shows that the adsorption configuration of the collectors on the mineral surface makes the thermodynamic properties of the mineral surface different,it also reveals the possible adsorption/desorption behavior and adsorption sequence of the anion-cation mixed collectors on the mineral surface under different acid and base conditions.4.Under the grinding time of 5.5 min(60.2% particle size of-74?m),1750g/t inhibitor dosage and950g/t new anionic-cationic mixed collectors(MJ),the grade is 1.64% of raw JAJIKA raw ore,the concentrate recovery and grade of spodumene can be obtained with 81.46% and 6.41%,respectively.
