Polymer Matrix Composites(PMCs)have outstanding fatigue,vibration resistance,modulus,strength,and other properties.They are generally applied to various fields of life,such as household products,special parts for the aviation industry(aircraft wings,turbine blades,etc.),automobiles,biomedicine,environment,etc.Reinforced particle fillers have accelerated the application and progress of PMCs,and have been used in the aspects of thermoplastic polymers and elastic materials for enhancing the mechanical characteristics.Although polymer matrix composites can be made directly into the shape of components,some particular parts require subsequent processing to gain the ideal shape.Coupled with the increasing demand for special functions,people have stricter requirements on the processing of polymer matrix composites.Due to the presence of reinforced particles and the thermal deformation of the polymer matrix in the manufacturing process,the processing of particle reinforced polymer matrix composites becomes more complicated.With the development of computers,simulation softwares are more and more extensively employed in cutting processing,which can be used to optimize cutting parameters and tool parameters.SiO2/HDPE composite material is a particle-reinforced polymer composite material synthesized by filling inorganic silica particles into high-density polyethylene.At present,there are very few studies on the cutting mechanism of this type of composite at home and abroad,limiting its application development.This article mainly uses simulation software to establish the cutting simulation model of SiO2/HDPE composites,study its cutting mechanism,and conduct processing tests.The major parts of the thesis are as listed below:(1)Conduct the quasi-static compression and the separated Hopkinson pressure bar tests of HDPE to gain the stress-strain curves under various temperature and strain rate cases.Manipulate and fit the data to get the J-C constitutive model variables of the high-density polyethylene.(2)The Python script is written to realize the random distribution of particle position and particle size in the particle reinforced composite.In the Explicit analysis module of ABAQUS simulation software,the SiO2/HDPE composite cutting simulation model is established,and the pre-processing settings are also performed.(3)Devise cutting simulation experiments of composite material to explore the effect of cutting parameters,material and tool geometry factors on the cutting resistance,temperature and cutting course of SiO2/HDPE composites.(4)Devise the milling experiment of SiO2/HDPE composites,and study the changes of the processed surface quality under various cutting factors.Carry out a range analysis on data to gain the best combination of machining variables and factor that affects the surface quality the most.Finally,compare the experimental chip with the simulation to analyze the tool wear and chip formation process.
