Super carbon nanotube is a new type of structure which replaces every C-C bond with carbon nanotubes based on the structure of carbon nanotubes.Due to the difficulty of the fabrication of the super carbon nanotubes, there are only computational researches till now.In this paper,we call macroscopic structures of the super carbon nanotubes as imitated super carbon nanotubes. The structure is studied by the finite element method and experiment with the model fabrication via 3D printing technology. The main research work and results are as follows:(1)Based on the finite element method, the effects of radius of the imitated bond, radius and length of the imitated carbon nanotube on the Poisson's ratio are analyzed. The effects of radius of imitated bond, radius and length of the imitated carbon nanotube and the imitated super carbon nanotube on the Poisson's ratio and buckling behavior of imitated super carbon nanotubes are analyzed. At the same time, the effect of defects on the buckling behavior of imitated super carbon nanotubes are analyzed, the results show that the buckling behavior is less sensitive to the defects.(2)Based on the coarse-grained method, the free vibration of imitated super carbon nanotubes is studied systematically. The effects of radius of imitated bond, radius and length of the inner and outer tubes on the vibration behavior of imitated super carbon nanotubes are analyzed.Compared with the results of the original structure, the results show that the coarse-grained method can effectively calculate the vibration behavior of the imitated super carbon nanotubes. In addition, the influence of defects on the low-order natural frequency is studied, and the results show that defects can reduce the natural frequency.(3)The solid models of the imitated carbon nanotubes and the imitated super carbon nanotubes are built via 3D printing technology. The static experiments and dynamic experiments on the imitated super carbon nanotubes are carried out.The results of finite element models corresponding to the solid models are compared with experiments results to verify the effectiveness of the finite element method.
