The electromagnetic high gradient magnetic separator perform the mineral separation based on the theory that electronic can generate the magnetic,excitation current change must cause the transient change of the magnetic field situation,by studying the composition way of excitation magnetic system for the electromagnetic high gradient magnetic separator and the influence on the effect of the mineral separation taken by the different magnetic field character,to create a fresh design idea and effective route for improving the separation ability of the electromagnetic high gradient magnetic separator.In the paper,to design the magnetic system for magnetic separator and simulate the transient-changing relationship between excitation system and magnetic field intensity with the FEA,based on the Maxwell's equations.During the study process to design and make the rapid electromagnetic separator with the formula and simulation,and to test the magnetic field character caused by the excitation system.For the new excitation system of the cycle-high gradient magnetic separator,to measure the transient character of its magnetic field intensity with the high gradient gaussmeter,and study the magnetic field law caused by different excitation system,then to perform the mineral separation testing with different kind of magnetic field characters and compare the separation effect among the testing.Through the design of the cycle-high gradient magnetic separator,the real-time measurements for magnetic intensity and separation validation for the ferrotitanium samples,we can get the following conclusions:(1)the excitation system difference can cause change of the magnetic field fluctuation frequency;(2)the excitation way have a direct effect on the fluctuation range;(3)the cycle-high gradient magnetic separator with different excitation system can impact on separation result on the ferrotitanium directly.
