First of all,this research summarizes the reforms of China Post through literature research,and sorts out the history of sailboat stamps from the early design,printing and distribution in the early 20th century.Then it elaborates the historical context of sailing stamps from production to circulation.Secondly,the plate-making process,sheet size,perforation degree,and ink layer thickness of a total of 56 Sailboat stamps in three editions are analyzed by using ultra-depth of field three-dimensional video microscope and other equipment and auxiliary tools.Non-destructive analysis of the printing ink and printing paper of the sailboat stamp samples using scientific and technological methods.These methods include Raman spectrometer and scanning electron microscope-energy diapersive spectrometer,etc.The results show that the pigments in stamp printing inks of the London version of the sailboat stamps mainly include red pigments(Fe2O3,Pb3O4),blue pigments(Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3,Na6-10Al6Si6S2-4O24),and black pigments(carbon black);the Beijing First Edition Sailboat Stamps mainly include red pigments(Fe2O3,Pb3O4),blue pigments(Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3),yellow pigments(Pb Cr O4),black pigments(C),and White pigments(Pb3(OH)4CO3);the Beijing Second Edition Sailboat Stamps mainly include red pigments(Fe2O3,Pb3O4),blue pigments(Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3),yellow pigments(Pb Cr O4,Pb Cr O4·Pb O),and black pigments(C).Pigments of various color systems are mixed in different proportions by following the principle of color subtractive method to present different ink colors in the sample.In addition,the SEM-energy spectrometer was used to analyze the fiber morphology in the paper of stamps,it is found that the paper fibers of the London and Beijing second edition sailboat stamps are elongated,while the paper fibers of the Beijing first edition sailboat stamps are composed of a mixture of elongated and wide ribbons.Then using the Mapping function in the software was used to infer the filler and auxiliary components of the printing ink and paper are:Kaolin,calcium carbonate,silicon dioxide,zinc oxide,barium sulfate,calcium sulfate,talcum powder,etc.This research can provide a reliable basis for non-destructive analysis of stamps and other paper products in the future.It also provides scientific and technological support for the identification,protection and restoration of stamps.
