Aiming at the problems of tooth loss and bit failure caused by tooth removal of roller cone bit and harsh test conditions of tooth inserts, this paper established a finite element model of tooth inserts based on elastic mechanics theory and finite element simulation software ABAQUS to study and analyze the influence of tooth inserts on force and deformation of teeth and tooth holes under different conditions.Firstly, through a large number of literature research, the main failure modes of the roller cone bit were analyzed. The selection of tooth material or tooth insert technology was unreasonable, and the tooth hole did not have enough pretightening force on the teeth, which were the important reasons for tooth failure.Secondly, through the geometry analysis of tricone bit,the accurate finite element model of insert was established, and the theoretical analysis of the finite element model was compared with the simulation results, which verified the accuracy and reliability of the finite element calculation method of insert. Then, based on the reliable finite element analysis method, the influences of insert temperature, friction coefficient and air in the hole on the teeth, force and deformation of the simplified single perforated model were studied. Finally studied the cone bit teeth with all model, through the Python script, applying boundary conditions, the parameterized design more groups of experiment scheme for the whole tooth set simulation, and considering the influence of downhole temperature on the bit, under different conditions are studied with pack to insert the influence law of rock bit, obtained the optimum insert process.Through the above analysis and research, the influence rule of inserts on the structure and performance of tooth surface under different conditions is finally obtained, which provides some reference for the actual design of inserts technology.
