Study On Paper Dyeing With Traditional Yellow Plant Dye

Since ancient times,dyeing is an important part of paper processing technology.Because of its aesthetic,functional paper dyeing technology has been handed down.Ancient people used to apply natural dyes on dyeing process,but in the change of times,many traditional dyes were gradually replaced,in some fields began to disappear.In the current protection and restoration of paper cultural relics,traditional plant dyes are still used to dye paper for repairing and distributing paper,but the paper dyeing process only relies on the subjective experience of restoration workers,and there is no comprehensive scientific quantification and analysis.Due to its raw materials,the different production processes of handmade paper led to differences in the performance of paper.There are a wide variety of handmade papers in the market.This paper focuses on research of the traditional handmade paper archaize dyeing and tries to carry on the dyeing experiment to compare the compatibility of different plant dyes with different handmade paper.The experimental raw materials are rice paper,bamboo paper and tough paper.Using reflection spectrum and colorimetric values to select phellodendron amurense,mulberry leaves and sophora japonica as dyes.The experiment tried to obtain an antique paper color.In this article,by consulting existing literature,learning and using modern dyeing methods for reference,the paper dyeing effect was analyzed and summarized from the experiment.The results of dyeing experiments showed that direct dyeing with plant dyes is simple,pollution-free and natural in color,so it was a good dye for making the antique paper.Dyeing will not directly cause the paper p H and strength of obvious changes.Through aging experiment,it was found that the color fastness of plant dyes on paper is generally poor.Problems with dyeing were also found in the experimental results:Due to the influence of raw materials of handmade paper,the contents of each component in the paper are different.Besides the absorption degrees of dyes are different,resulting in the difference of fiber coloring.Because of the chemical characteristics of the dye itself,different plant fibers and fillers have different affinities,resulting in uneven paper colors.Therefore,plant dyes in paper dyeing can achieve the effect of natural color,but will be affected by the raw materials resulting in some poor effect,which requires appropriate adjustment of the dyeing scheme according to the specific purpose of dyeing.Preferring and simulating the dyeing materials and processes,and then performing dyeing supplements,can achieve a good dyeing repair effect.
