Modified acrylate emulsion is widely used in construction,medicine,furniture and other fields due to its excellent performance.However,polyacrylate is a flammable polymer material,which has great safety problems and some deficiencies in the practical application process.The glass fiber has the advantages of non-combustibility,good fire resistance,and good heat insulation and so on.Therefore,in this paper,under high temperature conditions,thermal insulation glass wool with good performance was prepared by using silane coupling agent y-aminopropyl triethoxysilane(KH-550)to link the modified acrylate emulsion with glass fiber,which has certain flame retardant and thermal insulation properties,may have great research and application prospects in the future.The main works of the paper were as follows:(1)The effects of initiator dosage,emulsifier dosage,functional monomer dosage,molar ratio of soft and hard monomers,reaction temperature,etc.on the properties of emulsion were discussed by single variable experimental method.By analyzing the properties of monomer conversion,emulsion stability,particle size,gel rate and film forming property,the optimum process for preparing modified acrylate emulsion was determined.Modified acrylate emulsion was prepared by emulsion polymerization using methyl methacrylate as hard monomer,butyl acrylate as soft monomer,acrylic acid and glycidyl methacrylate(GMA)as functional monomers.The results were as follows:when the amount of initiator was 0.6%of the total amount of monomers,the amount of emulsifier was 4%of the total amount of monomers,the amount of functional monomer GMA was 4%of the total amount of monomers,the amount of functional monomer acrylic acid was 2%of the total amount of monomers,the molar ratio of soft and hard monomers was 1:1,the emulsion polymerization temperature was 90?,and the soaking time was 1.5 h,the performance of the emulsion was the best.(2)The structure and properties of acrylate emulsion before and after modification were analyzed and characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA)and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).The results were as follows:after modification,the surface of acrylate latex film became smooth and its thermal stability was improved.(3)A microcomputer controlled electronic universal testing machine was used to study the influencing factors of modified acrylic emulsion on the adhesive strength of glass,and to discuss the influence of coupling agent KH-550 dosage on the tensile shear strength of modified acrylate.The results were as follows:when KH-550 was not added,the acrylate had a certain tensile shear strength;After adding KH-550,the tensile shear strength of the acrylate increased obviously;The addition of KH-550 enhanced the adhesive strength between the glass and the acrylate latex film,and improved the mechanical properties.When the amount of KH-550 is 2%of the amount of emulsion,the modified acrylic has the best tensile shear strength and adhesive strength.(4)The modified acrylate emulsion and the flame retardant dimethyl methylphosphonate(DMMP)were mixed evenly to prepare the modified acrylate emulsion with flame retardant properties.The flame retardant properties of modified acrylate latex film were tested by oxygen index tester and vertical combustion tester.The results were as follows:the addition of DMMP improved the flame retardant properties of the modified acrylate latex film.(5)The thermal insulation glass wool with good performance was prepared by using coupling agent KH-550,flame retardant modified acrylate emulsion and glass fiber as raw materials.The effects of baking temperature,baking time,the mass ratio of glass fiber to emulsion,the amount of functional monomer(relative to the total amount of monomers)and the amount of flame retardant DMMP(relative to the amount of emulsion)on thermal insulation glass wool were discussed.The application of glass wool in thermal insulation materials was studied.The baking temperature,baking time,the mass ratio of glass fiber to emulsion and the optimal addition amount of flame retardant DMMP were determined.
