Abstract/Summary:
In the context of the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy,China’s indigenous innovation capability is constantly improving.From 2011 to 2019,China’s invention patent applications have ranked first in the world for nine consecutive years.At the current stage,Chinese enterprises are still dominated by incremental technological inventions,and the lack of breakthrough technological inventions has become an important obstacle for China to enter the "innovation power" queue.It has become a hot topic in the current research field of innovation to reveal the mechanism of creation of breakthrough technological inventions and improving the value of technological inventions.At present,there have been studies that have paid attention to the positive effect of inventor networks on their creation of breakthrough technological inventions,but little attention has been paid to the mechanism of the impact of inventor network dynamics on breakthrough technological inventions from a dynamic perspective.Based on knowledge recombinant search perspective and social network theory,this thesis builds a research framework for the relationship between inventor network dynamics,organizational knowledge scope,and the creation of breakthrough technology inventions,and reveals the impact mechanism of inventor network dynamics on the creation of breakthrough technology inventions.First,it introduces the time dimension to theoretically define and identify the degree and trend of inventor network dynamics.Second,it theoretically clarifies the different mechanisms of inventor network dynamics on breakthrough technological inventions.Finally,by combining inventor network dynamics with organizational knowledge scope,it clarifies the moderating effect of organizational knowledge scope on the relationship between inventor network dynamics and breakthrough technology invention creation,and proposes corresponding research hypotheses.Based on theoretical hypotheses,this thesis uses nanotechnology patent data during2006-2015 from the US Patent and Trademark Office(USPTO)to conduct empirical tests.The results show that,first,the higher the dynamic degree of the inventor network,the higher the probability of breakthrough technological invention creation.Second,compared tonetwork-centrality-stable inventors,network-centrality-enhanced inventors have a higher probability of achieving breakthrough technological inventions.There is a negative correlation between the network-centrality-declined inventor and the probability of creating breakthrough technological inventions,and there is a positive correlation between the network-centrality-churned inventor and the probability of breakthrough technological invention creation,but neither of them is significant.Compared with structural-hole-stable inventors,structural-hole-enhanced,structural-hole-declined,and structural-hole-churned inventors have a higher probability of achieving breakthrough technological inventions.Third,with the increase in the scope of organizational knowledge,the positive relationship between the dynamic degree of structural holes and breakthrough technological inventions has been strengthened,and the moderating effect on the relationship between the degree of centrality dynamics and breakthrough technological inventions has not been significant.Fourth,with the increase in the scope of organizational knowledge,the positive relationship between network-centrality-enhanced and network-centrality-churned inventors with breakthrough technological inventions has been strengthened,and the relationship between network-centrality-declined inventors and breakthrough technological inventions has not changed.As the scope of organizational knowledge increases,the relationship between structural-hole-enhanced,structural-hole-declined,and structural-hole-churned inventors and breakthrough technological inventions has been positively enhanced.This thesis illustrates the impact mechanism of inventor network dynamics on the creation of breakthrough technology inventions from a dynamic perspective,and reveals the moderating role of organizational knowledge scope with the consideration of the interaction between inventors and organizations,thus having important theoretical and practical implications for the formation mechanism of breakthrough technology inventions.
