| Scydmaenus is a specie-rich genus of the rove beetle subfamily Scydmaeninae.The main habitat of the genus is rotting dead wood,under moist litter,and some species are also found in ant nests.The species of this genus are widely distributed worldwide,and their diet is carnivorous.They mainly feed on other small arthropods.They play an important role in genetic diversity,species diversity,and promotion of material circulation in the ecosystem.This genus is widely distributed in the world,and 771 species have been recorded in the world.Before this study,17 species were known in my country.After this study,a systematic summary of the genus Moss was carried out in my country.The results are as follows:1.Twenty species of Scydmaenus were recognized,including 12 new species: S.baizhangensis sp.n.(Jiangxi),S.conaensis sp.n.(Xizang),S.dexingensis sp.n.(Xizang),S.giyrongensis sp.n.(Xizang),S.kiypuensis sp.n.(Xizang),S.limuensis sp.n.(Hainan),S.lushuiensis sp.n.(Yunnan),S.pailongensis sp.n.(Xizang),S.ruyuanensis sp.n.(Guangdong),S.tianmuensis sp.n.(Zhejiang),S.yatungensis sp.n.(Xizang)and S.yigongensis sp.n.(Xizang);three species are newly recorded from China: S.exculcator Kurbatov(Anhui),S.ivanloebli Franz(Yunnan),S.punctatissimus Franz(Yunnan);and five previously described species: S.fukiensis Franz(Zhejiang,Jiangxi,Fujian,Hunan),S.irmae Makhan(Chongqing,Sichuan),S.sinensis Franz(Jiangxi,Sichuan,Hunan,Hubei),S.szechuanensis Franz(Sichuan)and S.vestitus Sharp(Shanghai,Taiwan,Sichuan,Yunnan).2.All species are described in detail and separated from similar congeners.A habitus photo and illustrations of diagnostic characters is provided for each species.3.An identification key to Chinese species of Scydmaenus is given.4.A list for Word species of Scydmaenus is provided. |
