Poverty is a worldwide problem that plagues human development, and it is also a comprehensive research problem in multiple disciplines. The proposal of the spatial poverty theory has promoted the development of the field of poverty research and demonstrated that the poverty problem has obvious spatial characteristics. In response to this feature, spatial analysis methods and related techniques are used by scholars, and a series of studies on the relationship between poverty and spatial elements have been launched. The results show that location, transportation, and the environment are the main influencing factors that lead to spatial poverty. However,in the research on evaluating spatial poverty, there are relatively few studies on evaluating regional spatial poverty from the perspective of location and ecological advantages and disadvantages.According to the relevant research results,it can be found that the advantages and disadvantages of location and ecology will have an impact on regional economic development. Therefore,it is necessary to evaluate the relative situation of spatial poverty within the region only from the perspective of location disadvantage and ecological disadvantage.Based on the theory of spatial poverty, the evaluation index system of regional spatial poverty has been established from the regional and ecological disadvantages of the two angles. The entropy-variation weight method and the TOPSIS model are adopted to classify the spatial poverty of the region, and whether the regional spatial poverty can be reasonably evaluated from the perspectives of location disadvantage and ecological disadvantage is explored. Then, through the combination of the obstacle degree model and the geographically weighted regression model, the influencing factors of spatial poverty are analyzed, and the differentiation of the effects of different factors on regional spatial poverty is discussed. Finally, the counties(cities)in northern Guangdong are used as research areas for case analysis.Based on the above research content, this article draws the following conclusions:First, when only considering location disadvantages and ecological disadvantages, the spatial poverty status of the area can still be reasonably evaluated;Second,The high spatial poverty areas in the counties(cities)of North Guangdong are mainly concentrated in the western part of North Guangdong, while the low spatial poverty areas are mainly distributed in the northern part of North Guangdong;Third,There are6 main influencing factors of spatial poverty in the study area,4 of which belong to the dimension of social development, indicating that the quality of social development is the leading factor affecting spatial poverty in the area;Fourth,The improved geographically weighted regression model can better explain the influence of spatial poverty influencing factors on the region, and the current spatial poverty distribution pattern of the counties(cities)in northern Guangdong is formed under the interaction of various influencing factors. The research results can provide new ideas for related research on spatial poverty and provide references for the high-quality development of northern Guangdong.
