| Due to the large volume,complex data processing process and harsh environmental temperature conditions,the existing polarimeter has many limitations in practical application.The emergence of metamaterials has made the polarization measurement technology more compact and convenient.This paper focuses on the topic of metamaterial polarization measurement,and investigates the status quo of metamaterial polarization measurement instruments at home and abroad,and the related basic theories.The polarization measurement methods based on metamaterial in microwave and visible light bands are designed respectively.The finite difference time domain(FDTD)method is used to simulate and verify it.It is found that when the metamaterial structure and constituent materials are determined,the response band range is determined,and when the metamaterial structure is not completely symmetric periodic,the response spectrum varies with the polarization angle of the incident light,and the two correspond one to one.So we can through the response spectra of the metamaterial polarizer were indirectly determined the polarization of the incident light angle,the polarization state detection is different from the traditional measuring technique,without complex optical structure and the complicated data processing,it is based on the corresponding relationship between polarization state of incident light and response of metamaterials,rather than by measuring the characterization of the actual physical parameters of polarization,So it’s more convenient.In this paper,we also investigate the characterization methods of the polarization state and find that the existing methods are not suitable for the characterization of the polarization state of broadband light.In order to better understand the measurement principle of metamaterial polarimeter and better characterize the results,it is necessary to further study the polarization state characterization model.In this paper,based on the poincaré sphere,combined with the response spectrum characteristics of the metamaterial polarimeter,a wideband optical polarization and spectral characterization model--the concentric sphere model is studied.It is the geometric representation of the wideband optical polarization and the response spectrum of the metamaterial polarimeter.The concentric sphere is composed of the superposition of poincaré-like spheres with different radii.It has the characteristics of poincaré-like spheres,but it has one advantage over poincaré-like spheres,that is,it can represent spectral information.Finally,we use the concentric sphere model to further characterize and analyze the results of metamaterial polarimeter in visible band,and automatically draw the concentric sphere result graph by MATLAB programming. |
