Turbulence is one of the dominant physical processes in the ocean.Based on the hydrology, nutrients and the direct turbulence observations in the Bohai Sea(BS)and the Yellow Sea(YS)in 2017,we analyze the characteristics of turbulent mixing and the induced vertical flux, the application of various turbulent mixing parameterization methods is also tested.Based on turbulence observations in the BS,we find the observed turbulent kinetic energy(TKE)dissipation rate ? ranged from 10-9 to 10-5 Wkg-1 and statistically satisfied the lognormal distribution, the corresponding vertical eddy diffusivity was about 10-6?10-2 m2s-1.Strong mixing occurred near the surface and bottom as influenced by the wind-induced mixing and tide-bottom friction.Further research shows that ?and N2 satisfied power function relationship of ?=2.0×10-8+3.0×10-7(N2/N02)-5.This indicated the role of stratification in suppressing the turbulent mixing. The dissolved oxygen flux spaned four orders of magnitude,up to 4.61×104 mgO2m-2d-1,wind mixing promoted the vertical transport of dissolved oxygen across the pycnocline.Based on the observation data obtained during the stratified season of the YS,we find under the influence of both wind forcing and nighttime convection, the turbulent mixing was strong(average...
