The elastic-plastic repeated impact phenomenon of plate exists in various engineering fields. The study on the repeated impact response of plate is of great significance for theoretical analysis and practical applications. The elastic-plastic repeated impacts of plate involve local contact, dynamic response of structure, residual stress and residual deformation, etc. It is very difficult to model and solve. In this paper,a hybrid-solving method is presented, and the ballplate elastic-plastic repeated responses are investigated. The specific contents are as follows:(1)The Stronge contact model is extended to the problem of elastic-plastic repeated impacts. The dynamic substructure model of the plate is established for solving the elastic responses of plate. The fixed interface mode synthesis method is used to reduce the elastic mode of the plate. The Newmark integral method is used to solve the dynamic equation. The Predictor-Corrector method is applied to the iterative solution. Thus, the hybrid-solving method of the ball-plate elastic-plastic repeated impacts is established.(2)In order to verify the calculation accuracy of the hybrid-solving method, the structural discretization software Hypermesh and finite element analysis software LS-DYNA are used to model and solve the problem. The calculating precise and the computational effective of the hybrid-solving method are validated by the results of the finite element analysis. The predictions of the impact response parameters by the hybrid-solving method are correct and reasonable. It is shown that the hybrid-solving method can greatly save the calculation resources and computation time.(3)The hybrid-solving method is further verified by the ball-plate eccentric repeated impact experiments(4)A number of simulation examples are calculated to study the characteristics of the plate responses of elastic-plastic repeated impacts. It is found that the contact time and the ball rebounding speed are related to plate thickness, ball initial velocity, ball diameter and impact position. The maximum contact force and residual reduction are related to plate thickness, ball initial velocity and ball diameter, almost independent of impact position. The elastic-plastic repeated impact will eventually reach to a steady state, which is similar to elastic impact and no accumulated plastic contact deformation.
