To study the spatial distribution characteristics of mineral nutrient contents in Inner Mongolia grassland,we surveyed the element contents of 2.07×10~8mu of natural grassland in 7 banners of 4 league cities in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This study tested water-soluble Ca,Fe,Zn,Mg,K in soil samples using ICP-OES(Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer).A total of404 quadrats and 2020 soil samples in the study area collect from the Siziwang Banner of Ulanqab;Darhan Muminggan United Banner of Baotou;Abag Banner of Xilingol League;Evenk Autonomous Banner,Chen Barag Banner,Xin Barag Right Banner,Xin Barag Left Banner of Hulunbuir. The steppe types mainly include desert steppe, typical steppe, and meadow steppe. The mean value of element content of different banners was compared and analyzed for the significant difference. The element abundance of different banners and grassland types was discussed and evaluated.Ordinary Kriging interpolation was used to predict the spatial distribution of grassland soil in the study area.Relevant experimental results are as follows:(1)The desert steppe is exhibiting relatively high Ca,medium Fe and low K characteristics. The mean content of Ca are 132.60?g/g and 159.94?g/g,the mean content of Fe are 19.43?g/g and 14.20?g/g,the mean content of Zn content are0.559?g/g and 0.118?g/g,the mean content of Mg content are 24.70?g/g and 21.03?g/g,the mean content of K content are 81.29?g/g and 86.21?g/g,respectively in Siziwang Banner and Darhan Muminggan United Banner.(2)The typical steppe is exhibiting relatively low Ca,high Fe,medium Zn,and low K characteristics. The mean content of Ca are 86.70?g/g and 83.47?g/g,the mean content of Fe are 22.98?g/g and 20.82?g/g,the mean content of Zn content are 0.399?g/g and 0.288?g/g,the mean content of Mg content are 21.58?g/g and23.74?g/g,the mean content of K content are 86.21?g/g and 75.42?g/g,respectively in Abag Banner and Xin Barag Right Banner.(3)The meadow steppe is exhibiting relatively high Ca,medium Fe,high Zn,and high K characteristics. The mean content of Ca are 126.10?g/g and 121.69?g/g,the mean content of Fe are 16.40?g/g and 14.21?g/g,the mean content of Zn content are 0.620?g/g and 0.532?g/g,the mean content of Mg content are 27.58?g/g and 24.92?g/g,the mean content of K content are 126.95?g/g and 172.93?g/g,respectively in Chen Barag Banner and Evenk Autonomous Banner.(4)Xin Barag Left Banner is located in the transition zone between typical steppe and meadow steppe, with elements content characteristics of both typical steppe and meadow steppe, exhibiting a medium Ca,high Fe,high Zn and high K characteristics. The average contents of Ca,Fe,Zn,Mg and K were 102.11?g/g,26.00?g/g,0.615?g/g,23.41?g/g and 187.84?g/g,respectively.The results showed that the element characteristics of each steppe type were significant. The distribution of elements in the desert steppe is relatively uniform. The average content of Ca and K in Inner Mongolia grassland soil was medium and high in China.Ca of western and eastern was higher than central, and the highest was the western.K of western, central was lower than eastern.Mg and Fe are relatively high and show not a shortage.Mg of western was almost lower than eastern.Fe was higher in the middle than in the western and easter but did not more than the critical value of Fe stress.Zn is at a low level, which is nearly lower in the western than in the eastern.
