Stress is increasingly becoming a worldwide problem causing serious influences on health. The torture of stress can lead to hypertension, stroke, coronary heart disease, depression and other physical and mental diseases. Therefore, many studies were devoted to exploring effective ways to relax and reduce stress, such as music, massage, light and so on.However, there are still some inconsistent and unclear points in previous studies, and the main reason is that researchers were often limited to the study of single modal stimulus due to the imperfection of existing stress relief systems, and lacked a general multimodal experimental platform which helps regulate the relaxation environment to conduct control experiments more effectively.Focusing on exploring more effective ways of stress relief, the dissertation designs and implements an EEG-based multimodal mental stress relief system to carry out scientific research. This system can adjust the relaxation environment as needed.Front-end and back-end techniques such as Android and PHP were used during system development. After the implementation of the system, detailed experimental trials and comparisons were performed. Then control experiments were carried out based on this system. With light colors, flickering frequencies, stimulus regulation methods and stimulus modes as the independent variables,EEG data and stress questionnaires as the objective indicators and subjective indicators respectively were collected for following processing. Conclusions were drawn after the analysis of variance and t-test for data statistical analysis. The whole experiment was divided into four rounds, with 22 volunteers participating and a total of 286 person-time.Data processing result is that there were significant differences(p<0.05)in blue light group compared to dark group and user-preference color light group in the first round,0 Hz group compared to 4 Hz group,8 Hz group and 21 Hz group in the second round, dynamic regulation group compared to static regulation group in the third round and three-modal group compared to non-stimulus group and two-modal group in the fourth round.Meanwhile, the indicators of the subjects in these groups(including the proportion of a band power in EEG,the stress questionnaire score and the time required to enter the meditation state)showed a greater degree of relaxation. These results show that blue light,non-flickering light, dynamically regulated stimulus and multimodal stimulus are more effective in promoting emotional relaxation, and also verify the usability and practicability of the implemented system.
