Perceiving others' social interaction is a vital activity in human survival and development. The two most common social interaction activities in daily life are joint attention and face to face interaction.Joint attention is following a person's guidance to transfer attention to an object, which plays an important role in the process of human growth and development, and is the basic skill for us to learn and perceive the world.Face to face interaction is the basic form of social interaction, and also an essential element of social interaction.Previous studies focused more on the neural mechanism of people's perception of one kind of them.In this study,we created a unified study of these two kinds of social interaction activities, joint attention and face to face interaction,by adjusting orientation, this key variable in the same context,to explore the change of people's perception of social interaction with the change of perspective.Multiple voxel pattern analysis found that early visual cortex, extrastriate body area, superior parietal lobule and middle frontal gyrus can significantly distinguish different types of social interaction. In order to explore the contribution of different brain regions in distinguishing social interaction types,we looked for confusing conditions for these two social interactions in experiment 2,and controlled the same sample size of the two categories,so that we can distinguish the key brain regions and their processing patterns of different types of social interaction. We found only superior parietal lobule can still distinguish different types of social interaction behavior stably. After adjusting the number of key voxels in superior parietal lobule,it was found that superior parietal lobule remains relatively significant when the number of voxels changes,A series of subsequent control analyses also provided evidence for activation caused by social interaction classification rather than other activities in superior parietal lobule. To sum up,this study explored the key role of superior parietal lobule in distinguishing social interaction types through carefully controlled psychophysical experiments, and laid a foundation for subsequent research on social interaction classification. And in the design of robot navigation system, the assessment or training of social cognitive impairment, this study has a wide applications prospect.
