With the development of ocean transportation,the accident of oil spills occurs frequently throughout the world,and the marine emergency in disposal of oil spills has become an important issue for the coastal countries.The expanded graphite is an excellent adsorbent toward oil,due to the novel properties of specific surface area as well as oleophilicity and hydrophobicity.To meet the demand of disposal for the marine oil spill emergency,a serials of microwave-exfoliating equipments employed for the in situ producing expanded graphite were designed by our research group.In view of the severe requirements of high microwave density and operating temperature in the puffed cavity,the conveyer track which passes through the cavity must possess an excellent high temperature resistance,easy expansion performance,desirable mechanical strength and a long-time service life.For the previously-prepared composite track,its service life and price-quality ratio are limited because of the unfeasible mechanical property and tedious preparation process.Therefore,it is very imperative to design and prepare a special kind of microwave exfoliating composite material conveyer track with more preferable performance,succinct process and longer life compared with the previously-fabricated conveyer track.Firstly,the reasons of lack of mechanical strength of aluminum phosphate composites were analyzed.Using ceramic toughening method,new kinds of composite materials were prepared.Its mechanical property,microwave permeability,thermal stability and thermal insulation were tested and then the easy expansion performance was evaluated.Test results show that the strengthening effects of whisker reinforced filler are limited.But the structure,mechanical property,thermal stability and thermal insulation property of the aluminum phosphate composites prepared by wet process at atmospheric pressurecan be improved by fiber and matrix material,and the performance of the wave-transparent is less influenced.Then,the advantages and disadvantages of the preparation process of the original conveyer trackwere analyzed.By optimizing the mold and connection mode,the structure of the composite track units was simplified,and the preparation cycle was shortened.A special microwave-puffed composite material conveyer track was successfully prepared.Experimental results show thatthe improved track unitsare more accurate in size,smoother in appearance and higher in shape consistency;and the bonding method ownsthe advantages of concise procedure,stable performance,high connection strength,good damping effect and shorter preparation period,so the foundation for mass production of the caterpillar unit is laid.Finally,the failure modes of the composite conveying trackwere analyzed,and the life evaluation system of special microwave-puffed composite material conveyer trackwas established.Besides,the durability performance of new prepared composite track was tested,which indicates that the new conveyer track can be reliably used in marine oil spill emergency equipment of on-site producing expanded graphite by using microwave.
