Wave energy is one of the new marine energy sources,which contains great energy.However,there are still many problems with wave energy converter(WEC)technology.One of them is the low efficiency of WEC,which has largely restricted the development of commercialization of wave energy.This paper aims at the WEC of buoyancy pendulum,and uses the maximum power point tracking(MPPT)method to track the maximum power point of the system during the work process,thereby improving the WEC efficiency.In this paper,firstly performs mathematical analysis on each part of the buoyancy pendulum WEC and establishes related mathematical models.Then,simulation models of each part were built in MATLAB/Simulink to establish a simulation experiment platform for the WEC,providing a basis for the study of the following.Before selecting an appropriate MPPT algorithm,the output power characteristics of the buoyancy pendulum WEC are studied firstly,and the control principle is clarified.After that,the advantages and disadvantages of different MPPT algorithms are compared and analyzed,the Hierarchical adjustment step size MPPT strategy is proposed based on perturbation and observation(P&O)algorithm.On the simulation experiment platform,relevant simulation research was carried out.The simulation results preliminarily verify the effectiveness of the proposed Hierarchical adjustment step size MPPT,which is compared with the traditional fixed-step P&O algorithm.Finally,an experimental platform for buoyancy pendulum WEC was established,and related control systems were developed.Experiments on physical models are performed to further verify the effectiveness of the maximum power point tracking algorithm.In summary,the analysis of the experimental results proves that the MPPT in the buoyancy pendulum WEC can effectively increase output power of the system and output more power.
