Submarine canyons also known as underwater canyons,a narrow and deep seabed strip of negative terrain.The emergence of submarine canyons,cause the "chimney effect",the bottom of the sea and water changed the terrigenous material from the shelf,slope to deep sea basin sediment transport mechanism,formed a unique regional hydrodynamic field and ecological system,submarine canyons outlets of the submarine fan is one of the potential favorable hydrocarbon accumulation area,the key point of the bottom of the sea disaster prone to area,is one of the countries oceanographer focus area.As the most developed area of submarine canyons,the edge of the Asian mainland has been studied in the Taiwan strait and parts of the south China sea,but there is no systematic study or a complete database.The work of this paper is to use SRTM15_PLUS multi-beam sounding data,with the help of ArcGIS software platform,and combining with the collected data and the results of other researchers,seek a kind of suitable for large quantities of identification of submarine canyon of automatic identification method,a kind of artificial supervision by the method of selecting the Asian continental margin E40°?E180°,S15°?N60 ° research within the scope of the submarine canyon in the effective identification,in the area amounted to identify size canyon(including the valley),554,through the feature information of submarine canyon in statistics,The axis length of the submarine canyon is within the range of 6.7-322km,the straight-line distance is 5.9-280.5km,and the sinuosity is 1-2.4.At the same time,this paper puts forward a set of complete classification criteria of submarine canyon,sort the canyons from submarine canyon in continental margin type,whether to cut to the shelf,if the head into the river and the plane shape to sort of submarine canyon,through classification,found that the Asian continental margin submarine canyons mainly head not with rivers of the blind valley,submarine canyon mainly linear plane form,the classification system can be more efficient for the future research of different types of submarine canyons.Finally,with the help of ArcGIS software platform,this paper established a feature information database of submarine canyons,including the classification of submarine canyon.Through this database,the feature information of any submarine canyon on the edge of the Asian continent can be searched,which greatly improves the accuracy and efficiency of the research,offer convenience for future marine engineering construction,the exploration of oil and gas resources,seabed geological disaster prevention.
