In the energy-constrained underwater environment, improving energy-efficient of the underwater acoustic sensor networks(UASNs)in the process of transmitting data which is one of important problems to be solved in UASNs.For solving the above problem, this paper proposes the energy-efficient opportunistic routing candidate set optimizing algorithm(CSOA)for UASNs by analyzing the difference of energy consumption of data packets transmitting and receiving.CSOA improves the existing UASNs opportunistic routing protocol candidate set formation process for mainly solving the problem of redundant candidate nodes wasting the receiving energy of data packet.CSOA consists of two phases: candidate node ordering phase and candidate set generation phase. In the candidate node ordering phase, the data packet sending node sorts the candidate nodes in descending order according to the optimized normalization value. In the candidate set generation phase, the data packet sending node determines that the candidate set with the lowest energy consumption is the optimal candidate set.In this paper, the NS-3 simulation platform is used to simulate the CSOA.The proposed algorithm is added to the existing underwater opportunistic routing protocol candidate set formation process comparing with original routing protocol. The experimental results verify that the proposed algorithm saves the total network energy consumption while ensuring reliability.
