Xinjiang has a special geographical location and a complex climate,which provides conditions for the formation of wild medicinal plant diversity.With the continuous development of virtual plant visualization technology,the combination of wild medicinal plants and computer science can not only quantitatively reflect morphological and structural rules of wild medicinal plants,but also provide guidance for rational development and utilization of wild medicinal plant resources and artificial breeding.The paper mainly focused on Trollius altaicus,a typical wild medicinal plant in Altai Mountains,Xinjiang.From the morphological structure model and the dynamic growth model,the study used Open GL as graphics,Qt4.8 as platform,My SQL as database,and designed and developed the visualization system of Trollius altaicus.The System implemented three-dimensional visualization simulations of various organs and dynamic growth process of Trollius altaicus.The main research fruits were as follows:(1)The three-dimensional geometric model of Trollius altaicus stem was constructed by polygonal deformation.And the geometric model of leaf was established by Image-Based Modeling and Rendering.(2)A visual modeling method for describing the morphological structure of flowers was introduced.The geometric model of three-dimensional morphology of petals,bracts,stamens(filaments,anthers)and pistils(style and stigma)were described by extracting the main morphological parameters of the flowers.Based on Bezier surfaces to build calyx and petals,based on the polygon deformation method to build filaments and styles.The geometric model of anthers and stigmas was described by the ellipsoid parametric equation deformation method.According to the topological structure information of flowers,the organ models were combined to implement the three-dimensional reconstruction of the Trollius altaicus flower.(3)The topological structure model of Trollius altaicus was established by using parametric L-system.According to grammar rule of L-system,stems,leaves,and flowers were combined together and the dynamic growth process of the Trollius altaicus plant was realized.(4)According to the constructed morphological structure model of Trollius altaicus organs,the research designed and developed an interactive visualization software of Trollius altaicus based on the Open GL graphics library,Qt4.8 platform,and My SQL database.And then the dynamic growth of various organs and plant were simulated by this system.
