The research area is located in the north Bayan Har basin of Qinghai Province,it also located in the south slope of the Amne Machin mountains. The administrative region belongs to the Guluo Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Qinghai Province.During the long period of geological history, the research area has undergone complex tectonic evolution, and various structures have been developed. This paper mainly studies the strata and tectonic movement since the Neogene period. In the first place,we summarizes the unit of the genetic types of sediments in the study area.According to landform and sediment characteristics, combined with previous data, sediment of Neogene period exposed mainly Qu Guo group, the Quaternary strata in the study area can be divided into four time deposit, namely the early Pleistocene, middle Pleistocene the late Pleistocene and the Holocene.Based on the previous data, this paper makes a preliminary study on the paleoclimate evolution of the research area. The new tectonic movement and paleoclimate control the sedimentation of the study area, but the tectonic movement is always a major factor controlling the sedimentation. In addition, the new tectonic movement has a strong performance in the investigation area, which is characterized by the new tectonic movement, such as river terrace, planation surface, active fault, fold and earthquake.According to the observation, combined with the existing data,we can divide the tectonic deformation period of the region. There are at least three periods of structural feature in the study area, include the early Neogene NW structure, the late Neogene NE structure, and the late Neogene NWW structure, and the structural styles are all fold-thrust tectonic. The final basic framework of the study area was formed at the end of the Neogene.
