Abstract/Summary:
The professional and academic livelihood of HBCUs lies in the socioeconomic health of its surrounding host community. The purpose of the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HBCU Program is to expand the role and effectiveness of HBCUs in developing neighborhood revitalization, housing, and economic development initiatives. This research will evaluate the implementations of the HUD HBCU programs at Alabama A&M and Savannah State University. The purpose of this research is to identify the strengths and challenges of the HUD HBCU programs at Alabama A&M and Savannah State University in developing neighborhood revitalization, housing, and economic development programming.
