Abstract/Summary:
Many industries typically require a 3D model of the object for various analysis and representation purposes. Quick and easy 3D techniques are required when expensive 3D reconstruction machines are not available. We propose Cubical Reconstruction, a easy and efficient 3D reconstruction technique using silhouette information. In the proposed approach, a particular area in the 3D space with the same size in all three dimensions is referred as cube. The silhouettes are projected on 3D grid of cubes of a particular size. The cubes are then selectively resized and replaced according to the proposed algorithm to ensure that the curves of the object in the construction are smooth and the lines are straight. The modified grid is then projected on a 3D space thus presenting a neat and smooth volumetric presentation of the proposed object.
