Abstract/Summary:
In this thesis we develop a relational view on interaction-base for menu-driven dialog. The three components of a decision support system are database, modelbase and dialog. Relational views for database and modelbase have been developed while there has been little progress to design a base for dialog.;A base for dialog, named as interaction base, is suggested using relational framework. The key issue in this is the construction of a reliable relational schema without any anomalies in handling the interactionbase. To do this, we first build a decision-relationship (D-R) diagram by defining identical level, D-set, E-set and R-set. Then a mapping rule from the D-R diagram to a relational schema is proposed followed by some theoretical propositions in reference with the mapping rule. In addition, the special cases such as information value, optimization and different utility are considered. Finally, in order to show the effectiveness of the idea, we compare our method with the traditional menu-driven dialog interaction.;Our statistical test for the average time and the average errors in both cases shows our method is effective and time-saving providing certain specified conditions are met.
