In previous work at Texas A&I, two computer algorithms were developed to perform non-linear data reconciliation and gross error identification. The algorithms were tested on a problem which involved only material balance constraint equations, for which the nonlinearities are bilinear.; In the present research, a distillation process involving material balance, energy balance, and phase equilibrium constraint equations was used as a test problem. These equations include enthalpies and equilibrium ratios, which are complex nonlinear functions of temperature.; Computer simulation was used to study the convergence properties and computational efficiency of the data reconciliation algorithms. The performance of the combined data reconciliation--gross error detection algorithms in identifying simulated gross errors was also studied. |
