Charter school administrators' agricultural literacy and perceptions of agricultural education

Abstract/Summary:
The primary purpose of this descriptive study was to determine the agricultural literacy which included agricultural education and perceptions of Charter School Directors in Tennessee toward integrating agricultural education within their existing curriculum. Participants in the study were 19 Charter School Directors from charter schools within the state of Tennessee.;To determine the agricultural literacy and perceptions, a slightly modified version of the survey instrument designed by Frick (1991) and Montana State University was utilized. Results revealed that those participants who completed the survey were literate regarding agricultural literacy, but not literate regarding agricultural education. Participants also demonstrated high perception levels towards agricultural education. Implications and recommendations for further research were discussed.
