Abstract/Summary:
This project explores how design tools can lead learners to cross language and cultural barriers, unlock and activate their mindset to adapt new cultural norms. Reminder, self-reflection and boundary object are three components of a toolkit design for a self and group support system.;This toolkit BRIDGING uses physical reminders to encourage people to re-think what they could do differently in their everyday interactions. The reminder also lives in a "Self-reflection board" where users are able to map their changing patterns of interaction according to their goals. Finally, the "Self-reflection board" plays the role of a boundary object hosting conversation, inviting individual and group support for users. BRIDGING serves as a different medium for learner to instructor interaction and encourages group support along with an individual's task management system.
