| A New Age theory entitled sacred psychology, by Jean Houston, is explored and discussed in relation to its use by Christian counselors. The foundational belief system of this theory as well as Houston's view of Jesus Christ, betrayal, transformation, and the practices and process of sacred psychology is compared to the foundational truths of the Bible. Conclusions are that sacred psychology is deceptive and dangerous in its influence on Christian counselors and their clients, and should be avoided. The discussion gives the reader a deeper understanding of sacred psychology and the New Age Movement. |
