Some attribute missionary influence to birthmarks, others prefer birth defects. Which interpretation offers an accurate summary? While recognizing that cultural and historical threads contour the weave of the Chinese church tapestry, this thesis confines itself to missionary patterns. Missionary impact was brought, taught and caught.;The work concludes with a twenty-two book annotated bibliography on the church in China. The reader will gain historical and motivational insight into how and why various books on China's church have been published.;This non-traditional approach to missionary history releases missionaries from guilt of some supposed failure, identifies areas for imitating missionary willingness to suffer, reminds the reader that inadvertent behavior can leave as profound an influence as intentional strategy, challenges Chinese men to rise up for Kingdom ministry, and advocates a definition of the Great Commission broader than the three-self polemic. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Missionary, Church, Chinese | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
