Abstract/Summary:
Eski sainfoin (Onobrychis viciafolia, Seop.), cicer milkvetch (Astragalus cicer L.) and garrison creeping foxtail (Alopecurus arundinaceus Poir.) are three new forage species for irrigated pastures in Wyoming. These plants were subjected to grazing treatment to obtain their production and utilization characteristics. Regardless of species, production of pastures with or without grazing pressure was quite uniform. However, production of cicer milkvetch with respect to the other species was very aggressive. Utilization of pastures was also uniform but utilization of garrison creeping foxtail and Eski sainfoin were very heavy. Animal gain was somewhat higher in the first half of the grazing production in both pastures two and four, and in pastures one and three.
