Abstract/Summary:
Temperature measurements in high temperature and corrosive environments are important yet difficult to take. Though several methods have been developed in the recent past, phosphor thermography is one that can stand the test of time and high temperature. A previously designed high temperature probe for a coal gasifier using phosphor thermography is analyzed using a commercial finite element program. Both thermal and structural analyses were conducted. This work discusses the results of said finite element analysis of this design, both thermally and structurally. The results of these analyses prove the design is viable with a few small changes and the probe should be built and tested in a real gasifier.
