| The phase margin analysis techniques, developed by Ralph H. Smith, are used to study pilot induced oscillation for the TDF. In the study, designs are investigated to provide satisfactory pilot-in-the-loop control characteristics and vehicle rotational rates and accelerations. The objective is to get quantitative data which can predict the PIO tendency as a function of the pilot gain, time delay and possibly oscillation frequency. A computer-aided design package called "MATRIX-x" is used to analyze the control law in the preliminary stage and proved to be invaluable.;PIO is a potential problem for every aircraft. The difference between aircraft is how easy it is or difficult to produce. The objective of this thesis is to find the pilot's PIO sensitivity with the original control system and then improve it and make the vehicle more suitable for new pilot specially on statically unstable, fly-by-wire and side-stick controller. |
