Abstract/Summary:
This research is concentrated on high precision speed control of a DC brushless motor using advance digital signal processor (DSP).; Traditional motor control systems have been implemented with analog components. Analog components exhibit the disadvantage of temperature drift, component aging, precision, and so on. These problems have prompted a growing trend toward implementing motor control in digital form. The decreasing cost, improving computation power and speed and increasingly large scale integration of microcomputer has made the complete digital control of small low-cost motor control system a possibility.; High speed precision and compact motor control system can be achieved with software algorithms implementing on a DSP that embedded with EPROM, RAM, timers, serial port. The software algorithms being used are based on pulse width modulation of DC brushless motor supply current with the position feeds back from Hall effect sensor.; Some of the applications of high accurate speed control of DC brushless motors are high density hard disk drive, high speed impact printer, industrial robot, and so forth.
