Experimental investigations were carried out using pulsed SLS 200 Nd: YAG laser welding of ANSI 304 stainless steel plate to determine the optimal welding conditions. The weld characteristics like the depth, width and Heat Affected Zone are taken into consideration for the optimum weld. The parameters that are kept constant during the process are pulse duration, frequency, beam diameter, by changing the parameters in the laser weld like the feed rate, power and distance of the weld we can vary the weld characteristics. The welds were analyzed by optical microscope and tensile shear tests. The optimization of weld is also done by testing the weld strength using the MTS machine in which we can test the tensile strength of the weld. The finite element analysis model of the three-dimensional heat source for pulsed laser beam butt welding was analyzed in COMSOL and ANSYS. The results of finite element analysis were used to compare the results of experimental data. |
