| This thesis deals with in-mold electromagnetic stirring for continuous casting of cylindrical metal products.; A general transfer matrix method is developed, which is applied to multiregion cylindrical induction devices with two-dimensional current excitation.; The new method is used to analyze three types of mold stirrers (rotary, cylindrical linear, and helical). Electromagnetic field, stirring force, power and electric efficiency are presented. Flow dynamics are not considered.; Some special mold stirrers are discussed. New configurations are proposed, and some experimental results are shown. |
