Abstract/Summary:
This thesis consists of three topics: (1) synthesis and structure-activity relationships of new taxoids derived from 14-hydroxy-10-deacetylbaccatin III; (2) new and efficient routes to norstatine analogs and synthesis of peptides bearing ;A series of new taxoids are synthesized from 14;Norstatine analogs, i.e., 3-amino-2-hydroxyalkanoic acids, with high enantiomeric purity are obtained through efficient asymmetric synthesis of 3-silyloxy-;Additionally, a synthetic approach to the ceramide portion of gangliosides which are important in biomedical research is described.;A highly efficient chiral ester enolate-imine condensation giving 3-hydroxy-4-aryl-...
